Hocking Valley Community Residential Center


Hocking Valley Community Residential Center (HVCRC) is a 24 bed, staff-secured community corrections facility whose mission and purpose is to provide a non-secure setting where problem youth receive a positive rehabilitative program that allows him to become a productive citizen upon return to his community.  HVCRC, located in Nelsonville, Ohio, has been in existence since 1993 and was established under House Bill 812 that provided funds for multi-county rehabilitation facilities for juvenile offenders who would otherwise be committed to the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

The facility serves 12 counties in Southeastern Ohio:  Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington.  HVCRC utilizes innovative programming with an emphasis on individualized treatment, family participation, substance abuse counseling, individual counseling, and positive recreational activities.
