Talk to Staff

If a youth at HVCRC has been sexually assaulted, abused, or harassed, he may choose to tell a staff member at HVCRC.  All staff members have received training and are educated in handling these reports.

File a Grievance

If a youth placed at HVCRC has been sexually assaulted, abused, or harassed, he may choose to report the incident by filling out a grievance form.  The forms have a specific space to indicate that the grievance is related to sexual assault, abuse or harassment, and the youth does not need to provide any further details on the form other than his name.  Any reports filed in this manner will be handled promptly and appropriately by the Executive Director.

If the youth feels he is in imminent danger of being sexually assaulted or abused, there are special boxes in which to place the grievance form.  These special boxes are checked more than once each day and will be dealt with urgently.

Reporting by Telephone

If a youth at HVCRC has been sexually assaulted, abused, or harassed, he may choose to report the incident by using the specially designated telephones located in each living unit.  This phone is accessible to all youth while they are in the living units and the phone will automatically dial the Athens County Children’s Services worker designated to take these reports.

Third Party Reporting

Anyone mail make a report of sexual assault, abuse, or harassment on behalf of a youth placed at HVCRC.  These reports may be done by providing the information on a Third Party Report form, which is available on the counter in the front lobby of the facility, or by providing the information in the “Contact Us” tab on this web site, or by emailing the PREA Coordinator at nsommers@hvcrc.k12.oh.us.
